A few observations of mine about the SMC R: Sounds like a KTM. I always thought the sound was unique to the 1290 75* angle, but nope. Sounds like a KTM from the seat. Can't wait to put a slip on to save weight and braaap around. The brakes are phenomenal.690 SMC + 690 ENDURO + 690 ENDURO R from 2008 to 2010 included. 690 SM, SM limited, SM Prestige, SMR (all beaksters). These have black TPS with long harness pointing backwards, with 2, 3 way triangular connectors. TPS THAD: 0.5 V / 0.54 V with throttle blade closed (pushed closed with your finger) AND the same at rest, 0.70 V / 0.74 V. TPS APAD
The tank is stock; I was no more bothered by the autonomy than by the absence of a fuel gauge on the 2018 model. I usually try to fuel up every 150k and before hitting the trails. What I love about the 690: The torque. So much torque, so fun. Highway ride and passing are really comfortable.
This can also happen on the highway or when down shifting into a stop sign except the RPMs will drop to 0 and the bike will stall. Other times when accelerating the bike will start chugging dramatically as if it is losing power or running out of gas. Stalling is certainly the most common of these symptoms.

Hey guys I am new to this forum but not new to KTM. I own a 450 EXC and a 2014 690 Enduro. The 690 I bought new in 2014 and have since put 32,500 miles on it. These have been hard miles. I would say 60% back roads commuting at race pace, 15% hard trails, 5% supermoto track time, and 20% 1000 mile+ adventure trips. Very little highway.
